for vitamin B12 absorption. Generally the treatment for this type of anemia is supplemental vitamin B12. Sometimes your Doctor will recommend a potent vitamin B12 injection if s/he suspects that you are not producing sufficient intrinsic factor. Vegetarians should take vitamin B12 and iron supplements. For optimal vitamin B12 absorption, I recommend a sublingual form of B12. Vitamin B12 is well absorbed from under the tongue. Other symptoms of vitamin deficiency include dementia, depression, memory problems and nerve damage.
....Another form of anemia, caused by a folic acid deficiency, is called |
megaloblastic anemia. A low amount of folic acid in the blood sometimes causes red blood cells to be created larger than normal. This large size makes them less efficient. Folic acid deficiency can affect anyone, at any age. One should be careful about taking extra folic acid without first checking with their Doctor. Extra folic acid can hide a vitamin B12 deficiency, which can lead to possible nerve damage in the future. The best |
dietary sources of folic acid are green, leafy vegetables, orange juice and broccoli.
....There are many other types of anemia, but many of them are genetic in nature and require close medical attention. If you feel tired all the time, get winded when walking up stairs or seem to catch every cold that goes around, ask your Doctor or Peoples Pharmacist if you should be concerned about anemia. It is thought that all of us will experience some form of anemia in our lifetime.
