Meditation is a tool that helps bring the body and mind back into balance and it is a wonderful stress buster. And don’t forget to laugh… laugh lines are much prettier than worry lines. I have known people who are “old” at 60 and I have been inspired by others whom are much farther down the road. They made me feel geriatric! ....With the baby boomers fast approaching retirement age it is estimated that Canada’s senior population will outnumber the children under age 15 in less than a decade. This is an unprecedented first in Canadian history. Statistics may indicate that our quantities are up but that does not necessarily reflect that our quality of life has kept pace. Modern medicine has worked more than a few miracles in helping us achieve a few more years on planet earth. These advancements in medical technology combined with a preventative focus on wellness can help to insure the senior years can still be a healthy and productive time.
....Anti aging has become a focus for many studies and where we used to believe those who aged gracefully were blessed with “good genes”, it is now becoming apparent that there are many other ingredients we can access to enhance our quality of life as we age.

Include more vital raw foods into the diet and don’t forget the water. Water energizes, lubricates our joints, flushes toxins out and hydrates our skin which helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
....Exercise is a number one age buster. It benefits the body in so many ways. First and foremost for me are the feel good endorphins that are produced during exercise. But maintaining muscle mass, relieving stress, circulating the lymph system and burning excess calories are other amazing benefits of getting out for a daily stroll or a dance class.
....And just as the body needs a challenge so does the mind. Use it or lose it has never been more true. It is never too late to learn a new skill or take up a hobby and studies have shown that learning new tricks actually helps to increase your brain neurons.
....With age comes wisdom. Nourish your body - feed your mind - nurture your soul and truly enjoy the golden years. We spend our lives giving to our families, our communities and our work. Don’t forget to give loving kindness to yourself. ....You deserve it!
