Vitamin D May Lower Breast Cancer Risk

..... Breast cancer patients with lower levels of vitamin D were far more likely to die and far more likely to have their cancer spread than women with normal levels, Canadian researchers reported. Women deficient in the "sunshine vitamin" when they were diagnosed with breast cancer were 94 percent more likely to have their cancer spread and were 73 percent more likely to die than women with adequate vitamin D levels, the researchers said.
More than three-quarters of women with breast cancer had a vitamin D deficiency, the researchers reported to an upcoming meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. The study adds to a growing body of evidence that vitamin D, made when sunlight hits the skin and used to fortify many foods including milk, is important for preventing chronic diseases. It is key to maintaining strong bones.
After 10 years, cancer did not spread or come back in 83 percent of women with normal levels and 85 percent of these women were still alive. But just 69 percent of women with low vitamin D levels were cancer-free 10 years later and just 74 percent were still alive.

Listening To Music Found To Lower Blood Pressure

... Listening to half an hour of music each day may significantly lower your blood pressure, according to research reported at the American Society of Hypertension meeting.
In the study, researchers found that people with mild hypertension (high blood pressure) who listened to easy listening music for just 30 minutes a day for one month had significant reductions in their blood pressure.
... A total of 48 adults ages 45 to 70 who were taking medication to control mild hypertension took part in the study. Of these, 28 listened to 30 minutes of easy listening music daily while practicing slow, controlled breathing exercises. The remaining 20 participants, serving as the control group, made no changes to their daily routine.
... Blood pressure readings obtained one and four weeks later showed that systolic blood pressure - the top number in the blood pressure reading - dropped significantly in the music listeners. In contrast, the control group experienced only small, non-significant reductions in blood pressure

Cholesterol Lowering Drugs (Statins) May Reduce Your CoQ10 Levels

..... ..... Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an essential nutrient that helps trigger cellular energy production. Low levels of CoQ10 have been associated with compromised immune function and heart failure. Levels of CoQ10 tend to be lower in people with high cholesterol compared to healthy individuals of the same age.
..... In addition, certain cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins (such as Lipotor, Mevacor, Pravachol and Crestor) appear to deplete natural levels of CoQ10 in the body.
..... Taking CoQ10 supplements can correct the deficiency caused by statin medications without affecting the medication's positive effects on cholesterol levels.
..... Talk to your Peoples Pharmacist or Doctor to see if CoQ10 supplementation can help with your health and wellness.
Improve The Quality Of Your Sleep!
..... Our brain produces melatonin at night when light falls to regulate the sleep-wake cycle (circadian rhythms). When our sleep patterns are disturbed by traveling or for other reasons, some people find that falling and staying asleep can be very troublesome. Supplemental melatonin helps to regulate circadian rhythms and improve sleep quality related to sleep disorders and jet lag.
..... Talk to your Peoples Pharmacist or Doctor to see if Melatonin supplementation can help with your health and wellness.
